Nominate that special person for Dignity in Care Award

-

PEOPLE are being reminded there is still time to nominate work colleagues, carers, friends and family members for a Staffordshire Dignity in Care Award.

The annual awards recognise those people and organisations who provide care, always putting dignity at the heart of everything they do.

This year, organisers are particularly keen to see nominations for those providing care throughout the coronavirus pandemic. Those working in the care sector, informal carers, young carers, care companies and voluntary organisations are all eligible.

Alan White, deputy leader at Staffordshire County Council and cabinet member for health, care and wellbeing, said: “Every year our dignity awards recognise the best of the care sector in Staffordshire, including those working in it as well as those providing informal care to a family member or relative.

“We are incredibly grateful for the work that all our care providers and carers do, especially over the last few months as we deal with the

Coronavirus pandemic.

“Nominating someone for an award is easy and a great way of showing our appreciation and saying thank you for what they do.

“There’s still time left to nominate and I would urge anyone who knows a great carer or care organisation to get them nominated and get them the recognition they deserve.”

There are nine categories in this year’s awards, which are now in their sixth year. These include Home Care/extra care Dignity Champion, Professional carer, Informal Carer, young carer and Voluntary/ Community support.

Nominating is easy and quick and can be done online at www. staffordshire.gov.uk/dignityincare. People can also request a hard copy of the nomination form by calling 01785 355795 or emailing dignity@ staffordshire.gov.uk.

The closing date for nominations is Friday, July 31.

Shortlisted nominees will be contacted by mid-september with details of the rescheduled ceremony.
