Jobs are to be axed at choc plant

-

A number of workers at a chocolate factory in Derbyshire have been made redundant following a change in working patterns.

Bosses at the Thorntons factory in Somercotes factory started a “reorganisation” at the start of this year which included new flexible working patterns for employees.

Those that were not able to meet the demands of the new hours have now been offered voluntary redundancy.

It has been claimed by one former staff member that more than 100 workers have been affected.

She said the changes would help the factory to “deliver more efficient operations and invest in enhanced working conditions for our employees”.

She also said the company had worked with each individual colleague to find “the best solution for them”.
