MYSTERY surrounds the sudden closure of a school uniform store, with one dad saying he did not get the blazer he ordered for his son.

Clothing 4 Schools, in Anglesey Business Park, Burton, was not open when our reporter visited, although there is a notice in the window asking customers with outstanding orders or collections to call a number provided.

Our calls and emails to the shop have also not been returned.

Dad Eddie Young, from Branston, ordered a John Taylor Free School blazer for his son Josh, but his calls to the shop went unanswered when he tried to ring to collect it, having paid by card.

He called Staffordshire County Council Trading Standards department for advice and was told to contact his bank to get his money back.

A spokesman for trading standards has said it is not investigating, adding that Clothing 4 Schools was still active according to Companies House, which lists all registered UK businesses.

On the Companies House website, Clothing 4 Schools is listed as a “dormant company”, but the umbrella company, Clothing 4 Ltd, is active.

Mr Young said: “I had ordered a £39.95 John Taylor Free School blazer for my son Josh in July.

“I went to the shop before school started and they said they had ‘supply issues’ and told me to come back in two weeks.

“When I came back they said they were still having supply issues so I left it and left it. I thought maybe they are trying to catch up with all the orders.

“Then I heard someone say the shop had closed down.

“I went down there and saw a car being loaded with uniforms and was told it was ‘stock evaluation’.

“I rang the number and emailed but have had no answer.

“I reported it to trading standards but was just told to contact my bank to get my money back, which I did.

“I feel sorry for all the other customers who don’t know about this.

“It is just bang out of order.” Staffordshire County Council’s trading standards confirmed it was not investigating but said if anyone needs help with a consumer problem they should contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Service.

This provides free confidential and impartial advice on consumer issues and can be contacted on 0808 223 1133.
