Appeal for witnesses following public disorder incident
POLICE were called to a public disorder incident involving 10 people in a Burton street.
Windows were smashed and there were issues with noise in Napier Street in the early hours of yesterday.
Police were called to the street after receiving reports that windows were being smashed, said a spokesman.
Officers in Burton are now appealing to anyone from the street who saw anything or has any information about the incident to come forward.
Staffordshire Police said they were called at about 1.30am to reports of a group of people out in the street.
The officers arrived by 1.40am to find some of those involved had gone inside a property on the street. Initial attempts to get a response from anyone inside the house were ignored, said a spokesman.
It was not until 4.15am that officers got inside the house via a side door, where and one man, aged in his 20s, from Stoke-on-trent was arrested on suspicion of affray. Another male present at the property was issued with a fixed penalty notice for breaching government Covid regulations.
Sergeant Justin Rai, of the Burton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Did you see or hear anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident?
“If you have any information you should message Staffordshire Police on Facebook or Twitter quoting incident number 17 of 26 January, call 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
