A RECRUITMENT drive is set create much-needed jobs at a Derbyshire rail engineering firm.

F Brazil Reinforcements, which is set to help construct the HS2 highspeed rail line, is looking to create up to 30 jobs at a site in the county.

The company, which makes and supplies steel reinforcement products, wants to begin work at the former Montracon site, in Thorn Street, Woodville, in the coming months.

The firm says this could be as soon as April and it wants to recruit new employees to work at the former trailer manufacturing site.

The firm’s director John Fitzgerald told the Burton Mail that the site has been chosen due to its transport links and proximity to the sort of employees it needed – who may have previously worked at companies such as construction firm Roger Bullivant.

Ian Muxlow, director in the commercial team at Savills Nottingham which sold the site, said: “The sale of the former Montracon site provided the purchaser with the opportunity to acquire an extensive manufacturing facility in an excellent location offering good links to both the A42 and J22 of the M1.

“The site generated significant interest from a wide range of buyers, including commercial occupiers, investors and developers, indicative of the current strong demand for freehold industrial opportunities in the Midlands, which enabled us to secure an excellent outcome on behalf of our client.”

Following the completion of the sale of the site, Montracon has relocated to a nearby base off Occupation Lane. The site has been on the market since at least 2015 and has now been snapped up by F Brazil after the property was marketed at a guide price of £3.5 million.

Set across 12 acres, the facility comprises a number of industrial and office buildings totalling 163,303 sq ft (15,171 sq m).

The sale will help aid the firm’s expansion as it continues to fulfil its contracts in relation to the ongoing HS2 project.
