GRADUATE JORDAN BUYS FIRST HOME ON VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT

- By GEORGE BUNN george.bunn@reachplc.com

A GRADUATE is looking forward to starting a new life on his own after getting his foot on the property ladder by buying his first home in a Derbyshire village.

Jordan Rice, 26, has bought a new house on the Doveridge Park development in Derby Road, Doveridge. The homes have been built by David Wilson Homes and there are just two remaining.

Jordan said: “I was nervous because I was making the move on my own and wasn’t quite sure what to do in certain respects, but the team at David Wilson Homes looked after me as best they could to ensure I was comfortable before I moved in.

“I’m not too far away from my family home, but I wanted to take the first step on the property ladder and start my life in my own way.

“I purchased a first-floor maisonette, which appealed to me because it was within my budget and suited me being on my own. I didn’t need a large house to start with and I can work my way up over the years.”

Jordan, from Belper, said one of the main reasons he chose the property was due to him being eligible for the Help to Buy scheme. Under the scheme, the Government provides first-time-buyers with an equity loan towards the cost of a new property.

He said: “Help to Buy was the main selling point for me. That, and the fact there is no extra work needed with a new-build property. It’s nice to not be concerned with whether the boiler is going to need replacing, for example.

“I’m roughly the same distance from work as I was previously, which is handy.

The local area is fantastic with great and easy links that enable you to either walk, cycle, or drive into Uttoxeter.

“I’ve not met many people in the community having only moved into my home in January, but my neighbours are very friendly. Those I’ve met have been lovely and stopped for a quick chat.”

Rachael Harrison, sales director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “It’s so pleasing to hear Jordan has made a move to a home of his own and is enjoying our established community at Doveridge Park.

“Our remaining properties at the development are the ideal match for firsttime buyers, as well as downsizers, due to the manageable and comfortable designs.”

David Wilson Homes has a two-bedroomed Wilford-style property for sale at the development in Doveridge, currently priced at £194,995, in addition to a three-bedroom Draycote-style home priced at £309,995.
