Clarke-harris double turns it for the Posh

-

PETERBOROUGH United are not a team Burton Albion would often look to for a favour but they got one from the Posh on Saturday as the League One leaders scored two late goals to beat Wigan Athletic.

Thelo Aasgaard had put the Latics ahead 18 minutes from time and they would have been above Burton and out of the relegation places if it had stayed like that.

However, Jonson Clarke-harris equalised with eight minutes left and hit an 85th-minute winner from the penalty spot after Funso Ojo had brought down Siriki Dembele.

Swindon Town dropped Northampton Town to the bottom of the table with a 2-1 win at the County Ground.

Ryan Watson put the Cobblers ahead after 26 minutes but Scott Twine’s free kick in first-half stoppage time equalised and veteran striker Brett Pitman headed a 69thminute winner.

AFC Wimbledon are second bottom after losing 3-0 at home to Hull City.

Josh Magennis put the Tigers ahead from the spot in the 24th minute and Reece Burke doubled the advantage a minute before halftime, Mallik Wilks adding a secondhalf penalty.

Burton’s opponents tomorrow, Bristol Rovers, gained their first win under new manager Joey Barton, beating Shrewsbury Town 2-1.

Luke Leahy and Brandon Hanlon had Rovers 2-0 up until a stoppagetime reply from David Edwards.

At the top, Lincoln City lost ground in second place on Peterborough when they were beaten 4-3 away to Plymouth Argyle.

Kelland Watts and Danny Mayor had put the Pilgrims 2-0 up within 13 minutes but Conor Mcgrandles made it 2-1 by half-time.

Jorge Grant scored two penalties within three minutes to put Lincoln ahead after the break but Conor Grant equalised after 77 minutes and Plymouth won it in stoppage time through Joe Edwards.

Sean Raggett put Portsmouth ahead at home to Gillingham but Vadaine Oliver’s goal meant it finished 1-1.

Chris Maguire’s stoppage time goal earned Sunderland a 2-2 draw away to Crewe Alexandra, who had led 2-0 through Chris Porter and Tom Lowery. Jordan Jones got one back 14 minutes from time before Maguire struck.

Alan Judge and James Norwood scored to give Ipswich Town a 2-1 win over Doncaster Rovers, who replied through Jon Taylor.

Accrington Stanley and Fleetwood Town drew 1-1, as did MK Dons and Oxford United.

Jerry Yates scored two penalties as Blackpool coasted to a 3-0 win away to Charlton Athletic, Matty Virtue getting the third.
