A chance to say thanks for giving an insight into work
COMPANIES turned out in force for a South Derbyshire school’s annual industry buffet day in October 2002 to thank them for giving youngsters a glimpse into the world of work.
The Pingle School event was organised by teacher and industry co-ordinator Kevin Stokes as a thank-you to the school’s work experience providers.
Representatives from 50 companies covering a vast spectrum of industry sectors, from engineering to care services, turned out for the event and took the chance to liaise with each other, staff and pupils.
Deputy headteacher Martin Walton said: “It was one of the school’s higher profile events to thank the companies who enable our Year 11 pupils to take part in work experience programmes, which usually take place in June and July. It was well attended and we felt it was very worthwhile”.
