Unbowed Wood and Rahib see Ticknall to victory

-

TICKNALL’S bowlers were made to toil by Ben Slater on his return for Chesterfield but Tom Wood (115) and Rahib Ali (71) steered their side to victory by nine wickets.

Nottinghamshire opener Slater scored 122 off 140 balls with 11 fours and three sixes but only Andrew Parkin-coates (37) gave him any support in a total of 204-6.

There were two wickets each for Ousman Khizer (2-31) and Sam Trotman (2-64) for Ticknall.

Chesterfield’s only breakthrough with the ball came with the score on 50 as Derbyshire opener Wood struck 17 fours and two sixes off 132 balls and Ali hit 11 fours and a six off 90 in an unbroken stand of 156.

The win leaves Ticknall in third place, with leaders Ockbrook & Borrowash and Sandiacre Town both also winning.

Lullington Park blasted their way out of poor form by piling up 315-6 at home to Dunstall to move off the bottom of Greenhouse Cafe Division One.

Brendon Louw (78) and Sam Eaton (65) set them away with an opening stand of 151 before Joe Cain (57) and Paul Dawson (41 not out) took up the baton.

Matching that was asking an awful lot of a Dunstall side who had also been struggling but James Benstead (63) and Alec Mason (54) made sure they did not go down without a fight.

Eaton (4-45) and Faren Price (3-32), however, saw Park to victory as Dunstall were bowled out for 246 in the 43rd over.

To add to their pain, Dunstall took Lullington’s place at the foot of the table.

Alfreton’s lead at the top grew to 31 points because Alrewas were beaten by two wickets away to Morton Colliery.

Alrewas openers Gareth Woolley (34) and James Burton (25) put on 64 after they had won the toss but they needed an unbeaten 43 from Sam Van Daesdonk down the order to reach 194-9.

David Vardy (3-18) and Blair Matthews (3-35) did the bulk of the damage.

At 21-5, with Matt Frend on his way to 5-41, victory was a long way away for Morton but Dave Greaves (92 not out) and Matthews (61) shared a sixth-wicket stand of 135 and the home team made it with two wickets and 11 balls to spare.

Rolleston had no such problems at home to Duffield, Alex Britton (4-18) and Graham Dent (3-23) bowling the visitors out for 85 after losing the toss.

Usman Muzaffar (46 not out) and Gareth Marshall (29 not out) steered Rolleston to a nine-wicket win in 20 overs.
