Man caught red-handed dealing heroin is jailed

-

A BURTON man who was caught red-handed dealing heroin in the town has been jailed.

Ian Goring, of Princess Street, Stretton, was caught red-handed by police handing over heroin to a man on a bike.

Stafford Crown Court heard that Goring, 44, was seen driving a Renault Megane in Harper Avenue, Burton, on October 20 last year. His frontseat passenger was Craig Howe, of New Street, Burton.

Officers saw drugs being handed over to a 45-year-old man on a bike who was detained by officers. Goring and Howe were arrested for the supply of heroin, with phones and cash seized by police officers.

Following a crown court hearing on June 10, Goring was jailed for five years and eight months after pleading guilty to supplying heroin and being concerned in the supply of heroin. Goring was also sentenced for driving without a licence and insurance.

Howe, 40, received a two-year community order, four-month curfew, and was disqualified from driving for six months.

Detective Sergeant Jon Bradbury said after the case: “The arrests were part of a policing operation targeting drug dealing in the south of the county. These drugs were for supply and not just personal use.

“We welcome information about drug dealing in our communities and will continue to bring offenders before the courts.”
