Top-tapping proms favourites back again this summer at arboretum

-

MUSIC fans are set to enjoy the Summer Proms event at the National Memorial Arboretum near Burton this summer as it returns for the first time since 2019.

Hundreds of people will enjoy top-tapping proms favourites across two nights in August, making up for the absence of the event last year due to the pandemic.

Leading anthem singer Emily Haig will perform on both nights at the Alrewas venue, with the concerts concluding with a firework finale.

The soprano, who has performed at venues including Wembley Stadium, sounds as if she is looking forward to entertaining the crowds, posting on her Facebook page: “The National Memorial Arboretum is a wonderful place of contemplation and remembrance, with almost 400 tributes to organisations, both military and non-military set in beautiful surroundings.

“On 7 and 8 August I will be performing a fantastic Summer Proms concert alongside the Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. Tickets now available so do come along and celebrate with us.”

Mark Ellis, head of visitor experience at the venue, said: “We can’t wait to welcome people back to the arboretum for one of our most popular annual events.

“In 2019, when we last hosted the proms, the event sold out and this year we’ve already had a fantastic response since tickets went on sale, with people eager to secure their place for a magnificent evening of summer entertainment.”

A total of 3,000 tickets (1,500 each evening) have been made available, with hundreds of people already booking their places. Reduced price advance tickets can be bought until July 30 by visiting the arboretum’s website at ww.thenma.org
