Boy, 17, is charged with attempted murder after man allegedly stabbed in park
A 17-YEAR-OLD has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in Swadlincote earlier this week.
He has also been charged with possessing an offensive weapon and was due to appear before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court yesterday. He cannot be named for legal reasons.
Officers were called to Eureka Park, off Newhall Road, in the town shortly before 8pm on Tuesday, to reports of an injured man.
The 19-year-old man was airlifted to hospital having been wounded in the alleged stabbing. He remains in hospital a stable condition.
Officers arrested three people shortly afterwards.
An 18-year-old, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been released on bail while a 64-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released under investigation.
Police have not yet confirmed if there is any link between this incident and the death of 17-year-old Benjamin Orton, near The Pipeworks retail park, in Swadlincote, on Saturday, June 12. The teenager suffered stab wounds and died at the scene. A 20-year-old man he was with suffered serious injuries.
