Cases heard recently before Southern Derbyshire magistrate­s

■David Lambert, 30, of Whitney Close, Allenton, Derby, admitted possession of a serrated steak knife in a public place, namely Bentley Dale, Hartshorne, on August 3. He has been given a 26-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months because magistrate­s were told he possessed, “a potentiall­y lethal weapon where there was a clear risk of serious disorder”. He has been ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work, and was must pay £85 court costs and a £128 victim surcharge.

■Nathan Percival, 26, of Orton Lane, Twycross, admitted possession of cannabis in Netherseal on April 26, 2020. He also admitted possession of nine throwing knives in Netherseal on the same day. He also admitted driving a vehicle in Mount Pleasant Lane, Netherseal, on April 26, with 4.7 microgramm­es of cannabis per litre of blood. The legal limit is two microgramm­es. He has been given a 12-month community order and must compete 60 hours unpaid work. He has also been ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge and has been banned from driving for 12 months.

■Siobhan Marsh, 37, of Swadlincot­e Road, Woodville, had been convicted of seven counts of failing to give informatio­n relating to the identity of a driver who was alleged to be guilty of an offence on or after November 11, 2019. She has been fined a total of £4,620, ordered to pay £110 court costs and a £66 victim surcharge. She has been banned from driving for 24 months due to repeat offending.

■Robert Stevenson, 34, of Stamford Street, Ilkeston, has been convicted of riding a Triumph Trident motorbike in Ashby Road, Melbourne, on August 21, with 107 microgramm­es of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgramm­es. He has been given a 12-month community order which includes a rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t. He has been fined £180, ordered to pay £120 court costs and a £95 victim surcharge and has been banned from driving for 26 months.

■Shamu Doyle, 31, of HMP Stocken, admitted assaulting a prison officer at HMP Sudbury on May 5, 2020. He has been jailed for six weeks due to him already serving a prison sentence. Magistrate­s were told it was an assault committed on a prison officer during the pandemic. He was also ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
