Mixed views on decision of Parole Board over Bond and Pitchfork
WELL, the Parole Board got it right regarding their decision on the application by the killer David Bond to be transferred to an open prison, and completely wrong in the case of Colin Pitchfork.
This man sexually assaulted and murdered two schoolgirls and he should never be released.
The Parole Board state that they are bound to follow the legislation when considering any offender’s application for release and whether or not such offender still presents a danger to the public.
However, if the public were allowed to have their say in the matter then, surely, particularly in the case of Colin Pitchfork, he would never be released.
Those who commit such despicable crimes should never be released and a change is urgently needed in the legislation to allow parole boards to make a decision which properly reflects public opinion.
I find it astonishing that a man who has carried out these atrocious crimes can even be considered for release. Even the Government can’t get the Parole Board to reconsider their decision.
Something needs to be done now before other heinous killers are released back into society.
