Delayed football was well worth the wait as it was simply superb

THE delayed Euro 2020 football championships were certainly well worth the wait, with some exciting games being played.

Many people had written off England’s chances after they struggled to draw with Scotland. With many top teams going out there was a clear route to the final, particularly after their memorable victory over Germany.

I don’t think there was any disgrace narrowly losing the final to Italy, arguably the best team in the event, on penalties.

We have our best young manager since Sir Alf Ramsey and a young team who can compete with the best teams in Europe. Well done to Gareth Southgate and the England team for giving our nation a big lift in the past few weeks. Things certainly bode well for the future.
