Imagine Cruising’s 14-night Ultimate Cunard Canaries Sailcation... the itinerary
IMAGINE Cruising is offering an escape from autumn to sunnier climes this October – we take a look at exactly what’s on offer for the 14-night Ultimate Cunard Canaries Sailcation.
Day 1: Embark Queen Elizabeth
Arrive in Southampton and step onboard the regal Queen Elizabeth, with ample opportunity to explore the decks from the elegant cabins to the bars, shops and dining venues.
Days 2-4: At sea
Settle into the ship whether you’re treating yourself to some pampering at the Mareel Spa, tucking into a mouthwatering afternoon tea, or simply relaxing and enjoying those glorious ocean views.
Day 5: Funchal, Madeira (Overnight in Port)
Madeira’s capital city is famed for its beautiful surroundings thanks to rolling hills, colourful flowers and ocean views. You’ll be staying overnight onboard the ship, giving you plenty of time to explore and bookmark some of the city’s highlights.
Day 6: Funchal, Madeira
Funchal has plenty to explore from its impressive Gothic cathedral to the popular Monte cable car. The ride from the old town takes around 20 minutes with beautiful views over the city.
Day 7: Tenerife
The largest of the Canary Islands is a must-visit whether you’re looking to hit those golden beaches, take on the hiking trails along the volcanic landscape, keep an eye out for marine life, or enjoy the atmosphere on the bustling promenades.
Day 8: Gran Canaria
Get ready for some beautiful
scenery – this island is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve after all. Think dramatic mountainous landscapes, dense green habitats, and a rugged coastline offering everything from dunes to picture-perfect golden beaches.
Day 9: Lanzarote
Lanzarote is famed for its year-round sunshine and volcanic landscape, which make it a popular destination with intrepid explorers. One highlight not to be missed is the Cueva de los Verdes, a famous tunnel made from a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago.
Day 10: At sea
One particularly glamorous offering on Cunard cruises are the gala balls where you can slip into your gladrags and show off your moves on the polished dancefloor to music from an eight-piece orchestra. The balls are themed with everything from Roaring Twenties to Masquerade, so there’s ample opportunity to let loose!
Day 11: Cádiz
The Spanish port of Cádiz is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe and is filled with warren-like streets, spacious palm tree-lined plazas, and restaurants serving up seriously delicious tapas. Oh, and keep an eye out for the enthralling flamenco performances on the streets.
Day 12: Lisbon
The sun-kissed Portuguese capital offers up everything you could want from a city break – a brilliant atmosphere, heaps of history and some breathtaking views.
Foodies can also get their fill in the traditional restaurants where plates are piled high with olives, baskets of rough country bread, and bowls of rice and beans known as arroz de feijão.
Days 13-14: At Sea
As well as the star-studded line-up, the Queen Elizabeth caters to plenty more great nights out whether you’re after live music or stand-up comedy, or simply want to relax after a fun-filled day by enjoying a nightcap with some mellow music in the background.
