Frightfully good jobs for actors on offer at
IT’S not a job for the fainthearted.
But anyone who fancies a “spooktacular” role as an actor playing zombies, ghosts, chainsaw-wielding clowns and other creepy characters at Alton Towers’ Scarefest should dust off their CVS now.
Bosses at the theme park are recruiting for the event and have already auditioned more than 400 applicants.
Now it’s down to the final 30 specialist roles to complete the scare team.
Kieran Kimberley, entertainments creative manager for Alton Towers Resort, shared his top tips for a successful Scarefest actor:
■ Have high energy – actors need to be enthusiastic and physical to portray horror characters;
■ Be confident – be big, bold, brave and not afraid to step outside your comfort zone;
■ Be imaginative – use improvisation skills to read your audience and play on their fear;
■ Enjoy yourself and have fun – guests are coming for a scare, so give them one.
Kieran said: “Scarefest is a very exciting time of the year for us here at the Resort. Each year, we look for new ways to spark fear and create first-class immersive experiences for our guests, which has led us to be renowned for being the most popular destination in the UK for a seasonal scare.
“This year our Halloween celebrations will be bigger and better than ever – we’ve got an incredible line-up of live entertainment and never-ending spooktacular fun, which we’re sure both our actors and guests will love.” Scarefest includes four award-winning mazes and a new attraction, Trick O Treat Town.
There will also be the return of old favourites Freak Show: Toxic Junkyard and The Attic: Terror of the Towers. Scarefest will take place at
Alton Towers Resort from Friday, October 8, to Sunday, October 10, then each day from Friday, October 15, to Sunday, October 31.
