Festival bags top acts
THE LINEUP FOR THE 2022 BEARDED THEORY FESTIVAL AT CATTON HALL IS REVEALED
BEARDED Theory organisers have announced the first wave of top acts for its May 2022 Spring Gathering festival.
The festival, which takes place at Catton Hall near Alrewas, has announced its headliners and the first wave of acts for its first festival in two years.
Headlining the Friday night are alt-rock legends Placebo. Formed in London in 1994 by vocalist/guitarist Brian Molko and bassist Stefan Olsdal, the band stood out amongst their Britpop contemporaries with lyrics openly discussing sexuality, mental health, and drug use as well as a grungier punkier sound.
The band has had three top ten singles and six top ten albums. With their eighth studio album on the way, the band will be appearing at Catton Hall as a UK Festival exclusive appearance.
Topping the bill on Saturday night will be punk icon Patti Smith. The American poet/singer-songwriter, who has been cited as an influence to everyone from The Smiths to Garbage and U2 to REM, will be bringing her band as well as over 40 years of punk attitude and expertise to headline the main stage on the Saturday night.
Closing the festival off on the Sunday will be American psychedelic rock pioneers The Flaming Lips. Led by enigmatic frontman Wayne Coyne, The Flaming Lips are still widely regarded as one of the best live bands on the planet. With live shows featuring everything from aliens to lasers and unicorns and human hamster balls, this will be an unforgettable headline set.
Also appearing on the bill will be former Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook and the Light Brigade, Red Dwarf and Coronation Street actor Craig Charles and his Funk and Soul Club, Brit nominated folk singer Amy Mcdonald, angry political post-punk upstarts Shame, and guitarist Wilco Johnson.
