Classic car business is revved up to show off its new home
MOVE FROM BASE OF 40 YEARS
A CLASSIC car maintenance firm is set to celebrate its move to a new home near St George’s Park.
Europa Specialist Spares has been based at Fauld Industrial Estate in Tutbury for 40 years.
It moved to a new home at Lancaster Park in Newborough Road, Needwood in November 2020, but could not celebrate properly with customers due to Covid lockdown rules.
But the company finally marked its move with an open day at the weekend.
Owner Wayne Roper has been with the company for the last 35 years and has explained why he has moved it to the new premises.
The 64-year-old from Burton said: “I think the idea to move first came about in the middle of the Covid lockdown.
“I decided to consolidate the business. I wanted to make a move to give the business a bit of a boost and regenerate the business.
“The opportunity arose to change the direction of the future of the business. We had our move back in November but it felt like we never got to celebrate our big move due to the lockdown. That’s why we’re doing the event this weekend.
“Our new home stood out to us because it was more modern and efficient and the area had a fantastic reputation. It is quite a prestigious site and
we did a full redesign internally.
“We had grown into our old place in Fauld. It almost resembled a rabbit warren near the end. But businesses change and you have to move with the times. We’re really happy with where we are now, it’s lighter and airier than the new place with a nice lookout over the fishing lakes.
“We have redesigned from scratch and we luckily haven’t experienced any teething problems.
Shaun Garner, who works at the new site, has said that he likes the new location.
He said: “Things have changed since we were at Fauld. The business world changes. It’s all very positive. We have a new clean building on a nice estate. But it’s still the same friendly faces and more.
“It’s all positive for us. There are lots of possibilities now we have moved. It’s easier to find. The old place did have history but it was time to move on.”
Wayne said: “We have some ideas in the pipeline going forward and new projects. All our regular customers have commented how much they love the new site and we are thrilled with the positive feedback.
“We do have fond memories of the old place. It was a good industrial estate but we needed something more hitech. This new unit has a better profile and reputation.
It’s also easier to get to. “Looking forward I think we will be operating with a fresh approach.”
