Cases heard recently before Southern Derbyshire magistrates
■■Eugen Butarita, 34, of Foleshill, Coventry admitted stealing spirits worth £1,840. He also admitted stealing spirits and food worth £847.88 on May 25; stealing alcohol worth £1,676.50 on June 4; and stealing alcohol worth £183.25 on June 18. All the offences happened at Tesco, in Burton. Butarita has been jailed for 13 weeks because magistrates heard it was “a spree of offending”, where he targeted “high-value items” and carried out “unpleasant offences on public servants by trying to bite them.” He has been ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
■■Laura Woodford , 44, of Eden Close, Hilton, admitted being drunk and disorderly in a public place, namely Eden Close, Hilton, on August 19. She also admitted breaching a suspended sentence imposed for drink-driving. She has been fined £395, ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £35 victim surcharge.
■■Thomas Parker, 41, of Shakespeare Road, Horninglow, admitted driving a Volkswagen Polo in Derby Road, Burton, on March 20, with 98 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. He has been made the subject of a 12-month community order with 80 hours of unpaid work. He has been ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £95 victim surcharge. He has been banned from driving for 24 months.
■■Luke Diskin, 34, of Ashbourne Drive, Castle Gresley, admitted breaching a domestic violence protection notice imposed on August 20, having breached it on September 8. He has been jailed for 14 days due to a persistent breach of the order. He was also ordered to pay costs of £146 to Derbyshire Constabulary.
■■Carl Ruane, 44, of Princess Drive, Kirby Muxloe, Leicester, was found guilty of stealing plasterboard and plaster from Travis Perkins Trading Company, Swadlincote, on January 27, 2020. He has been fined £120, ordered to pay £620 court costs and £189.86 in compensation.
