Service to remember the life of Phoebe, 17

FAMILY HOPING TO CREATE LASTING MEMORIAL FOLLOWING TRAGEDY

THE life of a “beautiful daughter” who died in a car crash will be remembered at a service taking place later this week.

Phoebe Johnson was just 10 days away from turning 18 when the car she was a passenger in crashed.

More than £4,000 has been raided on Gofundme to help her family and friends as they grieve.

The fundraising page describes 17-year-old Phoebe as a “beautiful daughter” who had “a knack of making you smile”.

“Those that were lucky enough to come into contact with Phoebe talk about her lovingly,” it adds.

“She had a huge impact on everyone’s life and her smile would light up any room.”

The aim of the fundraising effort is to create a “lasting memorial” in her memory.

A service to celebrate Phoebe’s life will take place on Friday at Bretby Crematorium’s Carnarvon Chapel.

Those who would like to attend are more than welcome, the family has said.

Phoebe, of Outram Close, Swadlincote, was a passenger in a red Seat Leon being driven along the A514 southbound when it crashed into the side of the road between Ticknall and Melbourne in the early hours of Saturday, October 23. Another 17-yearold passenger was taken to hospital following the incident with injuries that not believed to be serious.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. An inquest into Phoebe’s death was opened at Derby Coroner’s

Court. The hearing was attended by Phoebe’s parents and other relatives.

It will be family flowers only for this week’s service, but donations in Phoebe’s memory can be given at the funeral or sent c/o Murray’s Funeral Directors, 1 Boardman Road, Swadlincote, DE11 9DL.

The teenager’s favourite colours were blue and purple.
