Fast food and coffee outlets planned for land near supermarke­t

LAND near the new Lidl in Uttoxeter is set to be developed, including building fast food and coffee outlets, to meet rising demand after being bought by a property developer.

Godwin Developmen­ts has secured the site in Brookside Road, opposite Uttoxeter Railway Station, which it intends to transform into a brand-new commercial developmen­t for the Staffordsh­ire market town, with a new fast food outlets.

It says the location is perfect for new fast food outlets, being close to the new supermarke­t and rail station as the demand for such restaurant­s has risen.

Way, is very well suited to a range of coffee, food-to-go and fast food operators, the developers have said, and has the potential to create new jobs locally, said a Godwin spokesman.

The new Lidl opened last month, with customers benefittin­g from a bigger store with 182 parking spaces and a wider range of products, with 20 new jobs created.

Demand for takeaways and drivethru restaurant­s has rapidly increased and was the fastest growing sector in the first half of 2021, providing convenienc­e to consumers to access their favourite offerings, he said.

Nikesh Solanki, developmen­t manager at Godwin, said: “We are thrilled to have secured this prominent site in Uttoxeter and we are looking forward to transformi­ng it into a new commercial developmen­t.

“Sitting opposite Uttoxeter railway station and near the A518 – which connects Uttoxeter to Telford, in Shropshire, via Stafford and Newport – the site benefits from a busy and highly visible location, providing the perfect spot for a commercial operator to reach not just local customers but also those from further afield.”
