TWYCROSS Zoo’s Christmas Spectacular attraction is making its big return this December, with Santa Claus and all his friends ready to warmly welcome families back to celebrate Christmas.

The popular event returns, after a year away due to Covid, aiming to delight visitors with another unforgettable experience at the 100-acre Twycross Zoo, which is 14 miles from Burton.

Running on selected dates from Saturday December 4 to Christmas Eve, the zoo will be turned into a stunning winter wonderland, providing families an action-packed festive day out, said a spokesman.

Snowfall, mischievous elves, the ice queen, Mrs Claus and of course, Santa Claus himself will all be spending this December at Twycross Zoo, he said.

Visitors will arrive at the zoo and settle down in Mrs Claus’ Kitchen for a festive feast, choosing from breakfast or lunch, included in ticket prices, both are sure to be a delicious treat, he added.

Mrs Claus will greet visitors herself in her cosy gingerbread kitchen before Santa joins families at their table for a one-on-one magical meet.

Visitors will be able to venture into the zoo and be transported to the magical North Pole Plaza.

They can join the Ice Queen and friends for singalongs and magic spells at her frozen ice castle, or meet the mischievous elves for photo opportunities and fun.

Children can also listen to Santa tell stories and make a wish on the, brand new for 2021, giant plaza Christmas tree. He said: “Make sure to wrap up warm for your visit, as you never know when snow will fall.”

Tickets to Twycross Zoo’s Christmas Spectacular includes a festive feast, entry to the 100-acre Zoo and access to all Christmas activities on offer.

The Christmas Spectacular Event will run on the following dates: December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24.

Tickets are available online at www. twycrosszoo.org/christmas-2021

As a registered charity, dedicated to preserving the natural world and endangered species, your Christmas visit to Twycross Zoo is much more than a fun festive day out.

Funds from your admission will go directly to caring for animals at Twycross Zoo, as well as funding conservation projects around the world.

It comes as the zoo has announced that a major new centre is set to be opened opposite the zoo, which will be open to animal researchers from around the world so they can study the apes.

The zoo will be building the centre after successfully receiving £19.9 million in funding in the Autumn Budget from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

The National Science and Conservation Centre will be a purpose-built centre on the A444 and will offer researchers from around the world the opportunity to study the four great apes, as well as 100 endangered species, in naturalistic complex environments.

It will also support conservationists and scientists from around the world with a facility for both research and teaching, the zoo has said.

The work at the centre will focus on such things as conservation, animal welfare, biosciences and public engagement with science, and will include a unique 200-seater venue for scientific conferences. The work that takes place will significantly shape the outcomes of the global extinction crisis, they said.
