CCTV image of man who’s been missing 11 days
A CCTV image has been released showing the last known sighting of a Burton man before he disappeared, as police launch a video in a bid to locate him.
Friends and family of Wojciech Gawlik are desperately searching for the 26-year-old, who has now been missing for 11 days.
He was last seen at around 7.30pm on Saturday, December 11, at his home in Branston.
He has not been heard from since, leading police to put out three appeals in a bid for any information on his whereabouts. He friends say they are desperate to find him.
Now a CCTV image has been released of Mr Gawlik which is believed to be the last known sighting of him.
Inspector Tim Norbury, deputy commander of East Staffordshire Police, has released a video asking the public to check their CCTV and dashcam footage if they were in the Branston area between Saturday, December 11, and Monday, December 13.
He said: “He was last seen by his housemate at their property near Burton Road at about 8pm on December 11.
“CCTV shows him walking on the estate on Fox Close and Regents Park Road at 9.20pm
“His disappearance is out of character.
“We know he left his personal belongings at home, this includes his wallet and phone so his friends, family and officers are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare. If you were in the area of Regent Park estate or believe you may have CCTV or dashcam footage from 9pm on Saturday, December 11, to 7am on Monday, December 13, the time of his disappearance please check your systems and do get in touch.
“I ask that residents to check outhouses, sheds and waste grounds and seek immediate medical attention should you locate him.”
Mr Gawlik left his home without telling anyone where he was going, his friends have said.
He is believed to have his wallet with him, which is likely to contain his provisional driving licence. since going missing he has not made contact with his family and friends.
Friend Łukasz Perz works with Mr Gawlik at Smart Roof, based in Swadlincote. He said lots of his friends and colleagues had been trying to find Mr Gawlik as they search the area and appeal for anyone with information to get in touch. He said they had been searching most areas of Branston, including rivers and bushes, in a desperate bid to find their friend.
He said that Mr Gawlik comes from Tarnów, a city in Poland, but has been living and working in Burton for “some time”.
Mr Perz described his friend as a “quiet” and “not a problematic guy”.
On the day of his disappearance, he was wearing a navy blue company jacket with the Smart Roof logo, jeans and very distinctive Balenciaga sports shoes.
Mr Gawlik has been described by officers as having blond hair and being 5ft 10in tall.
An appeal was first launched to find him by Staffordshire police earlier this week. Officers now say they are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety and want anyone who can help to get in touch.
