‘Largest in county’ adventure play area opens at garden centre
AN ADVENTURE play area claimed to the largest of its kind in Leicestershire has opened at a garden centre.
Sunnyside Adventure Play, at Sunnyside Garden Centre, Ibstock, boasts a five-floor play frame with more than 100 features to explore, including a four lane slide, blaster cannons, ball showers and a selfcontained football pitch.
The play area and a cafe make up the first phase of a development at the garden centre, which will also soon feature an 18-hole adventure golf course and restaurant.
Sunnyside managing director Alan Ginn said: “Having expanded and improved the site for over 15 years, we decided in 2018 to explore the next stage of our growth.
“We decided we wanted to broaden the appeal of our business to a wider age range and attract families to our site.
“We applied for and were successful in securing part funding from a rural development grant scheme.
“This gave us the confidence to financially commit to a sizeable investment in the project which would create a fantastic attraction for the area.”
