Police probe village stabbing of woman, 28
A WOMAN was stabbed at a home in a village near Swadlincote yesterday.
It happened in the Sweet Hill area of Moira, off Ashby Road, Leicestershire police said.
The 28-year-old is being treated for injuries “not believed to be lifethreatening”, a spokesperson for the force said.
An investigation has been launched into the incident and officers are continuing to make inquiries in the village. No arrests have been made.
Residents were alerted to the incident when a heavy police presence was seen in the area.
A helicopter was also said to be circling over the village, according to residents.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers are carrying out further enquiries in Moira after a 28-year-old woman was stabbed in the Sweet Hill area. She has been taken to hospital where she is being treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
“The incident took place just after 8am today (Tuesday, May 3). An investigation into the incident and the circumstances leading up to it is under way.
“No arrests have been made at this stage.
“Anyone who has any information which may assist with the enquiries is asked to contact 101, quoting crime number 22*249541.”
