Police probe village stabbing of woman, 28

A WOMAN was stabbed at a home in a village near Swadlincot­e yesterday.

It happened in the Sweet Hill area of Moira, off Ashby Road, Leicesters­hire police said.

The 28-year-old is being treated for injuries “not believed to be lifethreat­ening”, a spokespers­on for the force said.

An investigat­ion has been launched into the incident and officers are continuing to make inquiries in the village. No arrests have been made.

Residents were alerted to the incident when a heavy police presence was seen in the area.

A helicopter was also said to be circling over the village, according to residents.

A police spokespers­on said: “Officers are carrying out further enquiries in Moira after a 28-year-old woman was stabbed in the Sweet Hill area. She has been taken to hospital where she is being treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatenin­g.

“The incident took place just after 8am today (Tuesday, May 3). An investigat­ion into the incident and the circumstan­ces leading up to it is under way.

“No arrests have been made at this stage.

“Anyone who has any informatio­n which may assist with the enquiries is asked to contact 101, quoting crime number 22*249541.”
