Voluntary groups can apply for £1,000 thanks to We Love Uttoxeter

-

VOLUNTARY groups in Uttoxeter have been given the chance to access a new cash lifeline, thanks to a community organisation.

The brand-new fund was officially launched last week to help voluntary groups in the town with cash grants.

We Love Uttoxeter was launched by The Community Foundation, working with an advisory panel, who will help to manage the promotion, fund-raising, and distribution of the grants.

We Love Uttoxeter is a community fund which aims to provide small grants of up to £1,000 to a range of projects across the area once sufficient funding has been raised. The fund will raise money by company and individual donations and fundraising activities, and then award grants twice a year.

All money will be invested through a permanent endowment in line with charity commission guidelines.

The interest and dividends earned on the money are then distributed by the fund as small grants across the district.

It will provide a source of sustainable, permanent, and on-going funding that can be used for small grants, and larger grants as the fund grows, for many years to come.

The advisory panel will be headed up by The Community Foundation trustee and ex High Sheriff of Staffordshire

Ashley Brough, with ex-staffordshire County Council leader Philip Atkins.

Mr Brough launched the fund by distributing more than £14,000 worth of grants to a number of local organisations working for the benefit of communities across Uttoxeter.

“My rallying call to people across Uttoxeter is to raise money for your voluntary groups, to help those on our doorstep. In short, We Love Uttoxeter is for Uttoxeter, by Uttoxeter.”
