YOUNGSTERS enjoyed an Olympic activity week in August 2004 in the run-up to the real Games in Greece.

Short Street Methodist Church in Stapenhill held the event to brighten up children’s summer holidays through games, craft, drama and music — as well as sport.

The activities were centred around characters created by event organisers to brighten up the fun.

The Wacky Watt family and Luke Lively and Lucy — two puppets — were all involved.

The Rev Julie Coates said: “Throughout the week, those present learned about how we are all champions in God’s eyes.”
