Love match?

-

THIS New York dating diary charting the turbulent relationship ups and downs of Darby, played by Anna Kendrick, was a lockdown hit.

Now it’s back for season two, focusing on an entirely new protagonist Marcus Watkins, played by William Jackson Harper (best known as ethics professor Chidi from The Good Place).

It begins with Darby’s wedding day and Marcus is there with his wife Emily – she’s the one doing the vodka luge with the bride.

The narrator (Keith David) says: “There is no destiny. There are no soul mates. There is no ‘one’. And yet it could be said that the core of human concern is a desire to commit.”

But Marcus begins to question his marriage as he develops a unique friendship with the magnetic Mia Hines (Jessica Williams) who he meets at the wedding.

Marcus, a book editor, chats to Mia while they are both ‘hiding out’ at the reception and forms an instant bond, but what does it all mean for his marriage?

Marcus and Mia’s friendship develops, both trying to ignore the chemistry – her boyfriend is out of town while Emily is doing night shifts… fair to say, Marcus becomes infatuated.

This is a funny, insightful comedy drama about relationships, but it also tackles racial themes.

A unique take on the romcom genre, with a brilliant cast and charming plot, stay tuned for a double bill opener.
