Police make two arrests following stabbing incident at address in village
TWO people have been charged after a woman was stabbed in a quiet village earlier this week.
Amy Redfern, 27, of Sweet Hill, Moira, has been charged with attempted murder and three counts of possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
Filipe Dix, 27, of Stanley Road, Nuneaton, has been charged with assisting an offender.
Both have been remanded into custody to appear before Leicester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The charges relate to the stabbing of a 28-year-old woman just after 8am on Tuesday, May 3. The woman, who has not yet been named, was treated at hospital and has since been discharged.
As reported in the Burton Mail on Wednesday, residents were alerted to the incident when a heavy police presence was seen in the Sweet Hill area of Moira.
A helicopter was also said to be circling over the village, according to residents.
A police spokesperson said last week: “Officers are carrying out further enquiries in Moira after a 28-year-old woman was stabbed in the Sweet Hill area. She has been taken to hospital where she is being treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
