YOUNGSTERS from across Burton and East Staffordshire took the chance to learn new sports while enjoying their half-term holidays in June 2004.

The children joined in with the Sport in the Hood programme, which was designed for children and teenagers aged between six and 16.

The scheme was organised by East Staffordshire Borough Council’s sports development team and brought together children from across Burton and the rest of the borough.

Some of the sessions were held at St Chad’s Church Hall, in Hunter Street, where rugby was one of the sports sampled by those on the course.

Youngsters of all abilities tried their hands at various other sports, including football, netball, basketball, cricket, rounders, hockey, tennis and other team games.
