Next mayor looking forward to promoting charities
EAST Staffordshire Borough Council’s next mayor, Councillor Philip Hudson, is to be inaugurated into his new role tomorrow.
The official ceremony, at which he will become the 30th mayor of East Staffordshire, will take place in the council chamber at the town hall.
Councillor Hudson said: “I’m greatly looking forward to taking on the role as the borough ambassador for the next 12 months.
“It’s an exciting time to become mayor, especially with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee around the corner, I have a great opportunity to promote the work of local communities and residents.
“I’m also looking forward to raising the profile of my chosen charities – Blood Bikes and Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT) – through a range of events and functions and promote the great work they do.”
Councillor Hudson, ward member for Crown, takes over from Councillor Patricia Ackroyd, ward member for Branston, who has held the post for the past 12 months.
Councillor Chris Sylvester, ward member for Heath, will be nominated to become the deputy mayor for the coming year.
