Fans wait to see if Rams saga will finally end before Saturday deadline

- STEVE NICHOLSON answers Derby County fans’ questions in our Q&A

■■Chris asks: Do you believe that Chris Kirchner gets the deal completed?

Having spoken to him on a number of occasions, given the fact he has flown over for a number of Derby’s games and hearing about the work that is going on behind the scenes, he is determined to complete a deal.

■■David Taylor asks: Can we expect any updates in the next 24-48 hours as it’s been quiet now for a few days?

I am not aware of any updates planned as things stand, David, but I’m sure there is lots happening behind the scenes to try and get a deal completed.

I would hope the next update is the news that things have been sorted.

■■DCFC fan Dean from 1981 asks: Do you think the club will survive liquidation?

I would very much hope it does not come to that, Dean.

■■James Hudson asks: My question is what is likely to happen after midnight on Saturday if CK can’t close a deal?

Good question, James, and I am not sure there is an answer to that.

Maybe, and if the administrators see that progress is being made, then the exclusivity period might be extended again. Let’s see what happens by midnight on Saturday and then the question can be asked.

■■James Atkin asks: Who is the local businessman who is looking into purchasing Pride Park?

He does not want his name in the public domain at present, I am told, and that has to be respected.

He and others are working hard behind the scenes, I understand.

■■Jonathan George asks: Do you think Mike Ashley will be back in the frame 100% after midnight on Saturday?

I’m not sure Mike Ashley has ever been completely ‘out of the frame,’ has he? I would be surprised if he has not been watching the situation.

■■Ian Bowler asks: Simple one, is there any chance of getting the deal

done by the weekend?

The simple answer, Ian, is hopefully because the matter needs sorting as soon as possible.

■■Dave Lockwood asks: Will this nightmare ever end?

Let’s hope so, Dave, because it has dragged on far too long.

■■Eileen asks: Very simple question – when will a final decision be made? It cannot go on much longer.

There can only be a final decision when everything is agreed and in place. I agree, it has gone on too long.

■■Dave Lockwood asks: Will the players get paid this month and by who, or do we start next season on minus three points?

There has been nothing to suggest they won’t get paid, Dave. There is a three-points’ penalty hanging over the club should wages go unpaid.
