Motorcyclist, 18, is injured in accident
PART of a busy Burton road was closed yesterday morning following a crash involving a motorcycle.
Officers from Staffordshire Police and paramedics were called to Main Street, Stapenhill, to reports of a collision involving a motorbike.
Police said an 18-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital with leg injuries.
The incident is believed to have taken place at around 6.30am. Motorists on their way to work reported seeing heavier traffic than usual heading into Burton as one lane was closed while the incident was cleared up.
Motorists also reported seeing a blue Vauxhall and a silver Volvo. However, it is not clear if these vehicles were involved. One motorist also spotted a motorbike.
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said yesterday: “Police were called to Main Street, Burton, at around 6.05am this morning following reports of a singlevehicle collision involving a motorcycle.
“Officers and paramedics attended and on arrival found an 18-year-old woman who is believed to have come off her bike and sustained leg injuries. She was taken to hospital.”
Drivers were advised to avoid Main Street and Rosliston Road and use the A38 at Walton junction instead to travel to Burton.
