Roof firm to get a grip on the pitch for charity day
VILLA PARK WILL HOST THE CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH
BURTON-BASED roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles is warming up for its big charity football match at Villa Park next Friday.
Two squads of 17, including 16 players from Russell Roof Tiles’ Burton and Lochmaben sites, as well as suppliers and customers have accepted the invitation, and are dusting off their boots and returning to the pitch with the ambition to raise £4,000 for local charities and causes as part of their Give 4 Good charity scheme.
All donations received from the players will be added to the company’s fundraising project, which aims to raise a huge £50,000 this year, to provide financial support to 11 charities and organisations based close to its two sites.
The charity football matches have proven popular fundraising events after the enormous success of the last match at the FA’S National Football Centre at St George’s Park, and so has made a return with the intentions of helping the business reach its ambitious target by the end of the year.
Organiser of the match, Ross Hayward, area sales manager at Russell Roof Tiles, said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who is taking part and donating. It’s been a real team effort to sort out, but we couldn’t do it without our customers and suppliers who have all kindly donated £100 or more to play.
“The money raised will help to provide financial support to our local charities.
“It’s set to be a great day out and everybody, especially the guys from Russell Roof Tiles, are pumped up and ready to go. Let’s see which team brings home the trophy.”
Andrew Hayward, managing director of Russell Roof Tiles, said: “We’ve hosted charity matches before so we know they are always a huge success.
“All donations from the match will help towards reaching our £50k target, and in the long term help us to continue to support communities local to our sites.”
The company has invested heavily in charity support over the years since 2015. Russell Roof Tiles has supported 33 different charities and causes local to Burton and Lochmaben, it has hosted 39 fundraising events and has donated £113,500 and counting to various organisations.
The company is also hosting other events later on in the year, including fire-pit walking, a golf day, a Peaky Blinders fancy dress party, and a quiz night.
