GLAMOUR girl Jordan proved to be a big attraction after motoring into East Staffordshire for the weekend in June 2004.

The former Page Three girl helped attract a crowd of thousands of custom car enthusiasts to the Kroozin Live 2004 event, held at Uttoxeter Racecourse.

Her then singer boyfriend, Peter Andre, had visited the borough two weeks before, attracting an estimated 3,000 screaming fans when he opened the new HMV store in Underhill Walk, Burton.

However, car parts retailer Motor World, which organised the weekend’s event, said Jordan was an even hotter ticket than her boyfriend, with 3,000 attending on the Saturday and 4,000 on the Sunday.

She got the crowd revved up on the Kroozin Live stage before appearing at various locations around the racecourse for autograph signings, where she was swamped by male fans.

Revellers were also entertained by pole dancers and jelly wrestling, as well as having the chance to put their driving skills to the test on quad bikes and karts.

DJS provided music for the crowds, and enthusiasts from across the country converged on the course to show off their customised cars.

These included Darren Bates, of Horninglow Road North, Burton, who won £1,000 in vouchers after his VW Golf convertible scooped the award for best overall vehicle in the show.

Police issued 150 speeding tickets and warned a further 28 revellers for dangerous driving, but Motor World said the weekend had been such a success that plans were already in the pipeline for a repeat at Uttoxeter in 2005.

Spokesman Jeanette Sykes said: “It was a really, really fantastic venue and we had the full cooperation of the staff at the racecourse.

“It was all controlled, partly down to our very, very good security team of 53 staff.

“The main reason we chose Uttoxeter Racecourse was because we have a large number of stores within an hour’s drive of Uttoxeter. ln all, it was a very good weekend.”
