Neighbourhood team are county’s best
A GROUP of police officers serving parts of South Derbyshire have been named at the county force’s safer neighbourhood team of the year.
Officers and staff were recognised for their hard work, bravery and dedication at Derbyshire Police’s awards evening.
Held at Pride Park on November 2, the Celebrating Achievements Awards saw 13 trophies for outstanding contributions to making the county safer handed out.
South Derbyshire Safer Neighbourhood Team, otherwise known as Mercia SNT, which serves an area including Willington, Repton and Melbourne, scooped the best in the county prize.
A spokesman for the team said on its social media site: “We’re proud to serve the people of Mercia and South Derbyshire.
“We love to help people, detect crime and bring offenders to justice.
“A significant part of our work as a Safer Neighbourhood Team is being visible in the community and getting out and about engaging with local residents, businesses and school children.
“And it is always lovely when people tell us they value our presence in the community.
“So it was a delightful surprise when South Derbyshire SNT was named as Derbyshire Constabulary’s Safer Neighbourhood Team of the Year for 2022.
“Several members of the team travelled to the awards ceremony last week to collect the trophy, which was presented by the Chief Constable and the Police and Crime Commissioner.
“Thank you to everyone who has helped our team over the past 12 months. We look forward to supporting and engaging with you over the coming year and beyond.”
Chief Constable Rachel Swann said: “Evenings like this always reinforce just how incredibly proud I am to lead an organisation of people who, day in day out, work tirelessly to keep our communities safe and the recognition they received is a small thank you for their hard work.”
