Restaurant wins Good Food award for tasty dishes
THE CHEF WAS ALSO PRAISED FOR HIS EXCELLENT SKILLS
A BURTON curry house whose food is described as “mouth-watering” has won a prestigious national award. The Gurkha Curry Lounge, in Station Street, has become a 2023 Good Food Award winner.
The eatery has been granted the awards scheme’s Gold Seal, described by bosses as a “mark of distinction”. It comes after customers rated the Gurkha Lounge highly and voted for it to win.
An awards scheme spokesman said: “Our Good Food Awards recognise the hard-working teams who strive for culinary excellence within their field. Chosen for their food quality, service and value, our highly revered Gold Seal, is bestowed upon those achieving consistently high customer ratings/votes over three years, making our Gold Seal a marque of distinction.”
A spokesman for the restaurant said on its website: “Our food reflects the root of its origins, having the subtle touch of most of the mouth-watering aromas from Himalayan regions of Nepal and India. Our restaurant uses carefully selected Nepalese herbs and spices and the best of local English products, particularly meat, vegetables and dairy products.”
Chef Shree Ram Kandel has been praised by his bosses for his “excellent cooking skills” and bringing “unique Nepalese and Indian cuisines” to diners’ tables.
