Plan ahead for overnight motorway work

-

ESSENTIAL maintenance work is underway on parts of the M6 which will mean smoother and safer roads for drivers.

National Highways is carrying out resurfacing work to tackle the deterioration of the road surface on the motorway between junctions 9 and 11.

The drainage systems between junctions 10 and 11 will also be cleaned and cleared of any greenery to help prevent issues such as flooding.

To minimise disruption for motorists, this essential maintenance is taking place overnight from Monday to Friday, when traffic numbers are lower.

Where possible, the work is being completed using lane closures but, to ensure the safety of both the workforce and road users, some full carriageway closures are required.

The northbound carriageway will be closed at night on weekdays between 10pm and 6am to enable the work to be safely carried out.

Drivers will be diverted off the road at junction 7, with the carriageway then reopening at junction 10.
