Meeting will look at Railway Challenge

THE next meeting and talk to be held by Burton Engineering Society will take place on Thursday at Burton College University Centre in the town centre.

The talk is tilted “The Institution of Mechanical Engineers Railway Challengealstom/university of Derby entry”. The Railway Challenge, now in its 11th successive year, brings together teams of university students, as well as apprentices and graduates working in industry across the world, to test their design ability, technical skills and business knowledge to design, build and test a 10¼in gauge locomotive to fulfil the requirements of the challenge. The presentation will describe the project, how it was managed and areas of particular interest.

Details of the mechanical and electrical engineering aspects of the loco will be covered with an in-depth look into areas of particular interest.

The locomotive will be available to view. The meeting starts at 7.30pm.
