Bagnall has four tries for Barton

-

WILLIAM Bagnall touched down four times as Barton swept past Wednesbury 47-0 in Counties 3 Midlands West (North).

Harry Roden also had a brace for the visitors as they produced one of their most structured and flowing performances of the season.

Barton were completely dominant at the set-piece, with Charlie George and Nathan Ward stealing plenty as well as securing good quality ball from the visitors’ own line-out.

While early scrums saw Wednesbury exert pressure on Barton, by the end of the game the visitors also had this area of the game completely under control.

Barton conceded two early penalties but when Wednesbury opted to go for three points with one of them, the kick went wide.

The visitors opened the scoring when Billy Peach saw an opportunity to pick the ball up at the back of a ruck before moving a short distance to cross the line for a try he then converted.

Bagnall scored his first try, although Peach’s conversion hit a post, before he put Harry Roden through to score after an excellent carry by Kieran Hall.

Peach made an excellent conversion and the lead was increased when Dan Toon released Bagnall for his second try, also converted.

In the second half, Bagnall used his power and pace to break through and score a try converted by Peach.

Kieran Thomas then made good yards before setting up Bagnall for his fourth, Peach booting the extras.

Following a fine carry by John Duckett, Barton went over for their final try as Roden completed his brace for a converted score.

Barton return to action on Saturday, November 26 at home against Willenhall.
