Man is cautioned after Remembrance Day anger
A MOTORIST who became abusive while waiting for people to safely cross the road during a village’s Remembrance Sunday service and parade has received a caution, police have said.
Mercia Police Safer Neighbourhood arrested a man during the events near St Wystan’s Church in Repton on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the team said on its Facebook page that a male driver got out of his car and “remonstrated with staff as school pupils, choristers, members of the clergy and representatives of the Combined Cadet Force crossed a busy road”.
The spokesman said: “The man expressed anger at the presence of the young people and veterans who were remembering fallen war heroes. Police immediately intervened and a man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of public order offences.
“The man has now received an adult caution having admitted the offence.”
