Chinese restaurant on the market and could be converted into housing
ONCE POPULAR VENUE CLOSED DUE THE IMPACT OF COVID
A CHINESE restaurant that closed due to the impact of the Covid pandemic has been put on the market.
A sale had been agreed for the former Mandarin restaurant in Egginton Road, Hilton, earlier this year, but it was not completed.
The Hilton restaurant was planning to reopen as a gastro pub after the Chinese restaurant closed during the Covid pandemic. Now the site is again available for purchase for £550,000, after a previously agreed sale of the land and venue fell through.
A spokesperson from Derbybased estate agent Omeeto said: “Everything on the website is accurate. It’s a public roadside site with very strong interest in its wide variety of options that it might be suitable for.”
They also confirmed that the establishment’s owner is currently away. The Burton Mail has attempted to contact her for comment.
Agents suggest that the land could be redeveloped for a variety of uses, including residential, subject to permission from South Derbyshire District Council’s planning board. They describe the lot as a “restaurant and premises with a large site and extended road frontage just 0.6 miles south of Hilton Neighbourhood Centre.”
It is available for “redevelopment or conversion potential to a broad range of residential, commercial, day care or healthcare uses. The existing building provides two bars, a commercial kitchen and 45 cover restaurant on the ground floor. The first floor provides a four-bed staff and manager’s apartment with kitchen, bathroom and living room.”
