Late night car theft and burglary cases being linked by police

-

POLICE believe two incidents that took place in nearby streets in Uttoxeter are “highly likely to be linked”.

A car theft in the Manor Road area and a burglary in Holly Road took place in the early hours of Monday, November 21 and officers suspect they were committed by the same criminal or criminals.

They said at around 3.30am on Monday, a vehicle was stolen from an address in Manor Road, Uttoxeter.

Police want anyone who saw anything or may have CCTV to get in touch.

Later the same morning, a resident in the Holly Road area, awoke, to find his home had been burgled. Officers believe they were after his car keys and were unable to locate them, and then continued to steal from the property, said a spokesperson for Staffordshire police.

Now an appeal has been launched for help in solving both incidents.

A spokesperson from Staffordshire police said: “Our teams are out there now, working diligently to forward the investigations which will hopefully lead to a positive conclusion. Assisting us, in any way, helps bring offenders to court and brings Police and their communities together, making our streets a safer place.

“In terms of prevention, always a good idea to purchase a Faraday Pouch (easily available online, Amazon etc) in which you can place your car keys and blocks the signal to open the vehicle. CCTV can be purchased relatively cheaply, Ring doorbells or similar, which provide alerts to residents should there be any movement within the scope of the camera, and provide excellent footage, which usually has excellent clarity. With Christmas fast approaching, thieves and offenders will be active in all areas of crime, let’s make it as difficult as we can for them.”

Anyone with information about the Manor Road incident should quote incident 0055 of November 21 2022.
