Long-range strike for Tristan in defeat

-

BURTON Albion’s academy side were beaten 4-1 away to Bradford City in their latest game.

Tristan Bennett’s super strike in the 53rd minute proved to be only a consolation for the young Brewers.

Dylan Youmbi nearly put the Bantams ahead in the 16th minute with a deflected shot but keeper Kamil Dudek managed to tip the ball on to the bar.

Albion thought they were in front after 11 minutes when Drew Robinson headed Connor Pace’s cross against the post but when Oakley Hazell tapped in the rebound, he was offside.

Three minutes later Bradford scored when winger Jack Wilson had too much time on the edge of the box and picked his spot.

Joe Nyahwema went on a solo run on the left and when he cut the ball back, Dylan Scott snatched at his chance and smashed the ball over the bar from close range.

Four minutes later, Wilson doubled his tally after Isaac Robinson chipped a dangerous ball into the box and Wilson met it with a firm volley.

Burton looked more dangerous for a time after the break and were rewarded when Bennett’s longrange effort found the bottom corner.

But as they pressed for an equaliser, Bradford went 3-1 up in the 61st minute when Fred Jeffries’ deep cross from the left was headed in by Nathan Teasdale.

The Bantams sealed their victory when substitute Don Kamwa carried the ball forward and curled a shot into the net from range.
