Belmont just in front as three make Premier pace

THE top three sides in the Burton & District Clubs Snooker League Newton Fallowell Premier Division all have a 6-1-1 record but Belmont A are three points clear after their 6 -2 home win over Potters A.

Paul Bradford had a 30 for the Servicemen but this only got him a half with Henry Tomas.

Jordan Watts got past Nick Ayres 2-0, then Kyle Cope and Baz Picci halved in a fine battle.

Picci had breaks of 51 and 30 against Cope’s 37.

Mark Sherratt sealed the win for Belmont with a 2-0 win against in-form Adam Harrison.

Alrewas B are tied in second after beating bottom side Ivanhoe B 5-3 away.

It was tied at halfway as Ivanhoe’s Nick Sewell beat Tony Wills, while Ollie Murfin, for the Legion, beat Andy Spendlove

In the second half, Tim Frowd continued his imperious form to get past Josh Wright, while Greg Gallup and Loz Kennerson halved.

Also joint second are Burton Cons A, who drew with their B team. Stuart Johnson for the A and Jon Swift cancelled each other out, as did Simon Tarrant (B) and Matt Milnes (A).

In the second half, Col Hamer (B) had a 53 as he took both from Graham Stevens, his first losing frames of the season.

Darren Coady (A) knocked in a 38 on his way to beating Simon Shilton.

Ivanhoe A had a solid 6-2 away win over Alrewas C.

Player of the week had to be

Martin Hicks of Newhall, who rolled in breaks of 62, 42 and 31 to steamroll Chris Mabbutt of Tutbury A as Newhall won 6-2.

Burton Cons C and Alrewas A drew 4-4 .

Potters B lead PJM Fascias Division One after a 6-2 home win over Stapenhill B with wins for Chris Dewey and Steve Ayre.

Break Room A are second and won 6-2 against Burton Cons D, mainly due to wins by Nigel Tomlinson and Mark Stirling.

After an indifferen­t start to the season, Belmont B are third after five straight wins.

Star man in their 5-3 win over Ivanhoe D was Wayne Brewin with a fantastic 76 against Dave Marriott.

Break Room B made it eight wins from eight in Nicholas Humphreys Division Two with an 8-0 whitewash of Rolleston D away. Mike Flanagan , Paul Fox, Ryan Gibbs and Callum Coleman were their winners.

The Potters derby between the C and the D went the way of the “away side” as the C were 6-2 victors to stay second.
