Shoppers could get a snap with trophy

FOOTBALL fans wanting to get a glimpse – and a selfie – of the most coveted prize in English football were able to do so in Burton on Saturday.

The Premier League Trophy headed to town for one day at The Octagon shopping centre, in an event organised in partnership with Midco Toys, which is based in the shopping centre. Those who headed to the centre could get a picture with the trophy.

The Premier League Trophy is the ultimate prize in the English game and the current champions are Manchester City after the club was crowned as the champion of the 2021-22 Premier League season. City are vying to win the title again this season, but have Arsenal giving them a run for their money.

The 2022-23 season has been interrupted by the 2022 World Cup taking place between November 20 and December 18. Premier League matches will resume again on Boxing Day, December 26.

The Premier League has said the 2023-24 season will run from August 12, 2023, to May 19, 2024.
