BURTON played host to brewer and pub company Greene King’s annual awards night.

A gala night of celebration was held at St George’s Park for this year’s Pride of Greene King Awards, which encouraged team members to nominate their colleagues by sharing stories of how they had gone above and beyond.

Shaun Williamson - best known for his role as Barry in Eastenders - hosted the night which was attended by 170 Greene King team members, while it was also live streamed to all Greene King’s 39,000 employees.

The firm also has a support centre located at Sunrise House on Ninth Avenue in Burton.

There were ten awards, celebrating team members’ stories, ranging from the Best Customer Story

Award to Best Environment Story, with all entries scrutinised by a panel of judges which included last year’s awards’ winners and the Greene King executive board.

Speaking on the night, Greene King CEO Nick Mackenzie, said: “This is the event in the Greene King calendar that I look forward to the most! “It’s been another inspiring evening hearing the incredible stories of our team members going the extra mile, embracing our culture, living our values, and caring about our customers, communities, and teams. “Given the high quality of all our nominations and finalists, there were no easy decisions when it came to selecting the winners. There was definitely a lot of pride and celebration in the evening, and I’d like to thank and congratulate all our finalists.” Winner of the Outstanding Contribution Story Award, which was voted for by the Greene King executive team, was Carol Watson, Talent Acquisition Partner for Greene King pubs.

She was praised for her support and dedication to teams, coaching those around her to grow in their careers, and for living the Greene King values every day.

Carol said: “I’m incredibly proud to receive this award, especially as all the finalists are worthy winners.

“I love my job and the people I work with, and it’s so rewarding supporting our teams to be the best they can in their jobs, seeing them progress and knowing that I have played a part in helping them to develop in their career journey.”
