Six arrests on way to music festival

-

FIVE people were arrested for drug offences and one for carrying an offensive weapon after police targeted motorists travelling to a music festival over the weekend.

North Wales Police carried out an operation targeting vehicles making their way to Glass Butter Beach at Llanbedrog, Gwynedd over the weekend, although none were made at the festival site itself.

Winds of up to 60mph had wreaked havoc at the three-day music and wakeboarding festival near Llanbedrog, blowing down tents and forcing the cancellation of Saturday’s events, but despite that thousands of revellers still attended the three-day event.

Friday night’s entertainment, headlined by Katy B, was switched from the main stage to the ‘Backdoor’ marquee stage due to the high winds.

But despite Saturday’s cancellation, Sunday’s acts went ahead unaffected.

A police spokeswoman said: “During the weekend, North Wales Police conducted an operation targeting motorists travelling to the Abersoch area.

“As a result, one person was arrested for being in possession of an offensive weapon and five people were arrested for drugs related offences.

“No arrests were made at the Glass Butter Beach event, but police received a report of a mobile phone being stolen.”
