REPUTATION IS GROWING!
A GARDEN centre restaurant in Gwynedd has been named the best in the UK.
The restaurant at Fron Goch Garden Centre near Caernarfon was up against hundreds of eating places around the UK.
But it came out on top in the Garden Centre Association award for the Best Restaurant in a Garden Centre throughout Great Britain.
Judges described it as the “most amazing restaurant”.
Fron Goch managing director Justin Williams said: “This is a huge honour for us which we are chuffed to bits with.
“It’s great for our team to have recognition for all of their hard work. “It really is down to them.” Fron Goch catering director Melanie Sewell said: “We are so thrilled to have won, it means so much to the team to be recognised for all their amazing hard work.”
Garden Centre Association’s chairman Julian Winfield said: “As Chairman of the Garden Centre Association it’s been fantastic to visit Fron Goch, a fabulous family run business that has the most amazing restaurant.
“I’m very pleased they’ve won this prestigious national catering award from the Garden Centre Association and to see the quality of the home made cooked food that’s fabulously presented.”
The award coincides with the restaurant’s 10th anniversary.
Fron Goch remains a family run business which was started by Robin and Valerie Williams in the 1980s when they bought an initial three acres of land.
They first supplied shops in Bangor and Caernarfon before setting up their own shop on the site, selling produce from a shed. They built this up in recent years, extending the shop and adding a cafe in 2007. The centre is now a major employer in the local area.
Many of the country’s leading garden centres belong to the Garden Centre Association.
Fron Goch’s restaurant was up against around 500 other garden centres.
